~~About Our Chapter~~

The Jackson-Madison Chapter was founded with the great desire to bring the national goals of historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavor to the people of our community. We were chartered in April, 1901, and take our chapter name from two of our beloved Tennessee heroes, Andrew Jackson and James Madison.

Our chapter is involved in many projects including:
*“Our Field of Flags” in downtown Jackson
*Awarding of ROTC medals to outstanding local ROTC students
*Sponsorship of Constitution Week activities
*Honoring DAR Good Citizens from local high schools
*Support for DAR-sponsored schools for abused and underprivileged students
*Participation in the annual Naturalization Ceremony
*Classroom participation with the "George Washington Biography Lesson and Portrait Contest," essay contests and classroom demonstrations
*Supporting our troops overseas with donations
*Providing lap robes and supplies to area veterans
*Participation in the annual State Conference and National DAR Continental Congress

Our chapter holds an annual Flag Day Luncheon, annual Patriotic Tea, annual Founders’ Day Tea, and monthly genealogy workdays.
We welcome prospective members to our monthly meetings and to all chapter activities.
